All riders are welcome at any show, and nominated horses and riders may compete for year-end awards. Most people never get to spend a day or a weekend as we do, with lively competition and the company of our friends, families and wonderful horses. We are sometimes reminded of this when we have visitors at a show, particularly visitors who may come from a lifestyle very different than ours and who don't know much about horses or rodeo. We all need to remember that each of us serves as an example to the public of how a barrel racer conducts herself, and our actions should always reflect on our professionalism and the glory of the sport.
